Team DUCK (referred to as DUCK most of the time) is a voluntary joined group. There are several levels of membership from 'Honorary DUCK', to 'DUCK Member', to 'Core Member'. Here is a quick definition of the levels.
Honorary DUCK -
This is given to persons that exhibited the traits of a DUCK but are not in the group formally. This can be done by being an excellent player at a game (not necessarily a good player, but one that shows excellent sportsmanship). You might suck at the game but your attitude and knowledge of the sport can make up for it very easily. Playing as a team is crucial to being called a DUCK.
Initiate DUCK (a.k.a. DUCKling)
This level of membership is reserved for potential DUCKs that have either been offered a membership or have applied for membership. This is an evaluation period where the person gets to attend DUCK functions and work with other DUCKs but has not been officially accepted as a full DUCK and has not been granted access to the full benefits and restricted site sections.
DUCK Member
To be a DUCK proper you have to show sportsmanship above all else. We do not tolerate hatred or bigotry on the field. Being a team player is our core value whether it is playing on the team with other DUCKs or in regular games. Being a good sport, calling your hits, and generally making the game a better one just with your presence is the hallmark of a DUCK. A DUCK membership can be applied for in person to a DUCK member or can even be offered to you by a Core Member out right. Your membership is dependent on your continued maintenance of the attitude and values that made you a DUCK to start. Just remember that your membership can be revoked by a Core Member just as easily as it can be obtained.
Core Member (a.k.a. Quackers)
These are Members that have been around the block long enough to be let into the 'Inner Circle' of DUCKs. As a Core Member you can invite players to join DUCK without needing to consult with other Core Members. You are allowed to represent DUCK at games and functions. As such you are held to a MUCH higher level of play and sportsmanship. If you are found to not hold the level of commitment and honor that is required of a Core then you can be stripped of the honor by other Core Members. Core Members are invited by a vote of ALL of the other Core Members. It requires a unanimous vote to approve the membership.
What is expected of our Members:
When you are a member of DUCK you are a representative of the group as a whole. Your gear should reflect that you are in fact a DUCK with the use of the Name Tape that is given to you or a patch that is approved for use by Core Members. You are required to hold yourself to a high player standard by being an excellent sportsman and an encouraging teammate. Derogatory terms and poor behavior are not tolerated. It is not uncommon for game hosts to contact us regarding potential DUCK members to let us know how well the did at a game or event. It is also not uncommon for a Core Member to follow up on a potential or current Member's performance at a game/event. Being a helpful and respectful player is the only way to stay a DUCK.
We do not 'actively' recruit or do a mass recruiting effort. Leave that to the 12 yr old kiddies and wannabe 'team captains' to do. If someone is thought to be DUCK material you are welcome to give out the website and tell them more about the group but are not required to do so. Remember that your reputation as a DUCK will depend on their future performance so be careful who you ask to join.
You will be required to attend a DUCK sponsored/hosted/endorsed game at least twice a year. This can be waived for extenuating circumstances such as deployment, marriage, kids, surgeries, laziness, etc.
